Masía Montrás

In this spectacular farmhouse of more than 300m2 and 3,500m2 of garden, a comprehensive interior and exterior renovation, decoration and styling have been carried out. The Landscaping project has been carried out by our collaborator, Marta Roca from Espaiverd.

This exciting project fell into our hands as a gift, from the first minute we felt completely in love with this place.

This farmhouse, located in the charming town of Montrás in the heart of Ampurdán, needed an urgent reform. In general, the house was very well preserved, but the dark colors, the finishes, the outdated furniture and the waste of the spaces took away the charm and radiance that this house could convey.

The first thing the client told us is that they wanted a lot of light, light colors and to achieve a modernized farmhouse while preserving that country flavor.

The first thing we did was to smooth all the walls that kept a very pronounced gotelé, we modified the entire electrical installation, the kitchen was changed as a complement but keeping the same shape, we gained a room, a bathroom and a laundry room on the ground floor where it used to be. space was unused.

On the upper floor we changed the floors for an incredible natural wood, we won one more room and one bathroom, in addition to reforming the two existing bathrooms.

One of the most important points of the house was to clarify all the interior carpentry, playing with broken white and a soft stone for the doors. All the exterior carpentry was painted a Provencal green that has given it a special and exclusive touch, reminding us of the typical houses of Provence.

We emphasize that we managed to preserve most of the original details of the house, such as all the wooden beams on the ceilings, the stone or the typical “Catalan volta” that give it character and personality.

Outside, a lot of landscaping work was done. A field of olive trees was created, new plants in all spaces, 2 porches and the pool was completely updated with new coatings and creating a solarium-type area to enjoy the views with a space for 10 sunbeds.

Unique pieces of great character were chosen for the furniture, some chosen in antique dealers in the area. Wood, iron, and fibers were the base materials. For the textiles we chose white linen curtains, cushions and bedding in natural materials, such as cottons and linens that we love.

A once unappealing home that is now the dream of many!
